I’m writing this from an altitude of 38,986 ft, while crossing into Louisiana from Texas and traveling 580mph. How am I doing this, you ask? Delta Airlines offers Gogo, an in-air wifi service. For $9.95 you can access the internet during your flight, or you can use the code DELTATRYGOGO for a free trial. This really is a great way to pass the time during a long flight. I’ve checked my email, updated Twitter and talked to my mom on Google Talk. I even did some work. I’m watching tv too.
The speed is pretty good–I have been able to stream videos and music, with both working much better than I expected. I’m not sure why every airline is not offering a similar service, being able to get online and watch tv has definitely sold me on Delta. Apparently United, American, Virgin and AirTran also offer Gogo, but only on a few select routes.
